The sultan of Turkish cinema, Turkan Soray attended as the guest of honor to the 5th Atif Yilmaz Short Film Festival held so as to remember the master director of Turkish cinema, Atif Yilmaz, and turned into a festival this year.
The sultan of cinema, Turkan Soray, and Atif Yilmaz’s wife, Deniz Turkali had emotional moments in the gala of the 5th Atif Yilmaz Short Film Festival.
Stating that they had a friendship beyond being co-workers in cinema industry with Atif Yilmaz, whom she worked in many films, mainly in one of the masterpieces of Turkish cinema, “Selvi Boylum Al Yazmalım” (The Girl with the Red Scarf), Soray emphasized the importance of awarding young people on behalf of him.
Expressing her thought on the beauty of the films participated in the Festival, Soray added that she felt honored on behalf of the cinema industry.
Actress Deniz Türkali stated that Mersin is a city of fidelity, and expressed her gratitude on naming such a festival after Atif Yilmaz. When Turkali could not hold back her tears in the ceremony filled with emotional moments, and held in Forum Mersin Atif Yilmaz Square by Forum Mersin, Mersin University and Daraba, her close friend Turkan Soray consoled her.
